Skid Builder

We’re a steel company, so the largest part of our business revolves around receiving and shipping steel. Something that not many people think about? How that steel gets from us to whoever is ordering it.

That’s where you come in. You’re a master craftsman who likes working with your hands to get the job done. In this role, you’ll need to bring your accuracy to the table…the table saw that is.

Here’s the nitty gritty of what we need you to do: 

  • Build skids and pallets according to our specs, or a customer’s specific request.
  • Prioritize and plan ahead to meet deadlines. 
  • Operate all warehouse equipment in a safe and reliable manner.
  • Report all equipment failures to immediate supervisor.
  • Maintain a safe and healthful work environment by practicing safe work habits, good housekeeping procedures and adhering to safety guidelines.
  • Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work and in accordance with Safety Policy and OSHA standards. Items may include: safety glasses, safety shoes/boots, hearing protection, etc.
  • Help out in other places around the shop, where needed. 

You’ll need this under the hood: 

  • A high school diploma, or the equivalent.
  • 2+ years of construction or manufacturing experience. 
  • Experience with the use of hand tools, including up-cut saw and circular saw.
  • Ability to read tape measure and follow detailed work instructions. 
  • Ability to operate equipment safely, effectively and efficiently.
  • Be able to frequently lift or move objects up to 75 pounds. 
  • Must be able to stand 8 hours per day, in addition to walking, sitting, climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling. 
  • Be okay working in both hot and cold weather, depending on the season. 
  • Be able to work in a team, or by yourself.
