Quality & Technical Coordinator

Majestic Steel is seeking a Quality & Technical Coordinator to join our Team in Houston!  You'll have the opportunity to work with both our office and service center teams to ensure a majestic experience for our customers!  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist Houston/Dallas Service Center associates in performing material inspections on shop floor.
  • Collaborate with the Service Center and/or Quality Assurance management to make proper decisions regarding the disposition of rejected non-conforming material.
  • Coordinate and perform proper warehouse inspections of new supplier material, returned material, and other receiving inspections as necessary. Make proper disposition on returned materials.
  • Secure samples for testing, customer approval, or other needs.  Administrate and arrange for the testing of material at outside laboratories.  Communicate test results as required.
  • Perform the tasks and duties required of the measurement gauge verification, repair, and calibration processes, consulting and advising shop floor personnel as needed.   
  • Coordinate with production planning associates the rework or reapplication of non-conforming material and guiding service center associates in the necessary extra processing activities.
  • Administer vendor claim process and drive progress toward prompt claim resolution.  Maintain claim files, obtain proper evidence of non-conformances, present claims to vendor representatives, and perform activities to close claims once disposition has been received.
  • Update and maintain supplier quality database, reports, and performance metrics as needed.
  • Assist Sales in fielding customer complaints/claims, entering information into the claim system, and collecting information/data. 
  • Assist in the follow-up/correction activities for customer rejections/complaints.  Review corrective actions to ensure proposed changes/corrections have been implemented and are effective.
  • Assist in the oversight of the quality system activities on the shop floor and within the Houston and Dallas offices.
  • Serve as a Quality System internal auditor, performing internal audits or studies of the Houston and Dallas service center processes.
  • Conduct quality and technical training (products, defects, quality system).
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Proven self-starter, who can thrive in a heavy manufacturing environment without direct supervision.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.  Will need to communicate professionally to associates, customers, and suppliers at all levels.
  • Must possess a general knowledge of ISO 9001 or similar quality system standards.
  • Must be able to perform in a high-pressure environment.
  • Must be detailed-oriented, organized, and able to prioritize.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

 


Above average math skills

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in steel products, especially galvanized, and knowledge of their defects and sources
  • Bilingual (Spanish)
  • Six-sigma training

 

ADDITIONAL:

  • Coverage of facilities in Houston and Grand Prairie, TX.
  • Must be able to work outside normal business hours/days as needed.
  • Must be able to travel between locations, up to 40% of the time.
